Rep. Ayanna Pressley Introduces Groundbreaking Abortion Legislation
As we mark one year since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the work of organizations across our movement is culminating in the Abortion Justice Act, a groundbreaking piece of legislation that builds abortion justice into federal law and charts a policy path toward a world where abortion care is available, affordable, and accessible.
Introduced by Rep. Ayanna Pressley last week, this bill creates a roadmap to ensure that abortion care is available without hurdles or stigma for people of color working to make ends meet, young people, LGBTQ, and gender nonconforming people β and is accessible in the communities where we live. All people, including young people, deserve more support, not more barriers, when it comes to accessing the care they need.
The Abortion Justice Act:
protects patients, including immigrants, and providers from criminalization;
removes systemic barriers to care;
ensures abortion is covered by insurance;
and, calls for necessary federal investments in abortion care including training, research, outreach, doula care, innovation, and access.
At WDN Action, we're proud to support All* Above All and their partners in the creation of this legislation and a world where care is there for everyone who needs it, without barriers based on who you are, where you live, or how much you earn.
With our freedom to make our own personal decisions on the line, itβs time for bold solutions for lasting change.
Send a message to your members of Congress urging them to support the Abortion Justice Act to ensure we have more control of our bodies, lives, and futures.
