A Narrow Victory in Milwaukee

In a thrilling update from Milwaukee, we witnessed the narrow passage of the Milwaukee Public Schools referendum, a crucial victory for education funding. Garnering 51% of the vote (41,586 votes) against 49% (39,866 votes), this success was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of Leaders Igniting Transformation (LIT), alongside approximately 26,000 absentee ballots that tipped the scales in our favor. This marks the second successful referendum in four years, following the approval of an $87 million referendum in 2020, underscoring the importance of the year-round organizing that LIT is doing.

Legislative Progress in Colorado

Colorado's legislative progress, particularly in the housing sector, is a result of the impactful work of New Era Colorado. Their efforts have led to the advancement of two critical housing bills: the Occupancy Limits and Cause Required for Eviction bills. These initiatives, driven by the power of young people, aim to support chosen families living together amidst rising housing costs and protect renters from unjust evictions – reflecting a record high of nearly 13,000 evictions in Denver last year alone.

Championing Reproductive Rights Across the Nation

In Arizona, Nevada, Florida, and Colorado, the Alliance's affiliates – Poder in Action, One APIA NV, Engage Miami, Florida Student Power, and New Era Colorado – are spearheading efforts to mobilize young people and BIPOC communities for their state's abortion campaigns. Through direct engagement on campuses, at cultural hubs, and through civic events, these organizations are leading the charge in educating and rallying support for reproductive freedom and access. By prioritizing in-person organizing in spaces where communities naturally gather, they're effectively building a grassroots power poised to make a significant impact at the polls, ensuring the protection and expansion of reproductive rights through the power of the youth vote.

Invest in youth organizing infrastructure and help fuel the work of organizations like these!
